Main cabin has two bed and one bath with kitchen and living room. Extra privacy with a third bedroom and en-suite bathroom in the separate cabin.

The Cosy Cabins sit at the base of the slopes of the dormant Maderas volcano. The wood cabins are located almost directly across the road from Selvista Guesthouses and Project Bona Fide, a farm and boutique hotel built inside a 20 year old reforestation project. Guests at the cabins can visit our restaurant on the farm for breakfast at a discounted rate of $5pp, and also for lunch and dinner. You’ll have access to the mini bar, and all the usual concierge services available to Selvista guests.

Hikes up the volcano will pass through the farm grounds.

The house is a 5-minute walk to the center of Balgue; a perfect hop-off point for the island’s many activities and sightseeing hot spots. This space is perfect couples, friends and families, to enjoy the peace and quiet of the nature reserve.

You will have your own private bedroom, featuring high-speed floor fans; access to a kitchen and 2 balconies; and 2 bathrooms including indoor, flush toilets and hot water showers.

Fiber Optic WIFI is included, as is a flatscreen television in the living room and access to a Disney Plus and Netflix account.

The cabins are on the main (but quiet) road just leaving (East of) the town of Balgue. It is peaceful and convenient.

There is ample space for parking trucks and other vehicles. The road to the house from the port is paved all the way. There is off-road, private parking for all guests. Low vehicles should make use of the off-road space in front of the gate. Vehicles with higher clearance can pull back the gate and enter the private driveway inside the property.

You can arrive at the property by following the road from the center of Balgüe to the East, crossing the bridge (Puente Balgüe) and the cabins are located on the left-hand side of the main road, conveniently lit and signposted in the street. If you see wooden signs for Selvista/La Bambouseraie/Bona Fide on the right (lit) then you’ve gone 100meters too far!If you see Finca Campestre or Fina Ometepe turn around and the cabins are on the right.

Nestled just outside of the rural town of Balgue, close to Lago Nicaragua and the trails that lead up to Volcan Maderas, this space is great for relaxing away from the hustle and bustle, while still just a 5 minute walk from the town center and 10 minutes from the famous Hacienda Finca Magdalena.

15 minutes walk from the historical site, Finca Magdalena, and the trailhead for the volcano crater lagoon summit.

The house itself is at the base of Maderas volcano. The gardens feature an outdoor ‘pila’ for clothes washing, fruit trees, varieties of edible greens and other edible plants, which are yours for the taking as our guests.

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lounge area with 42 inch TV, and outdoor deck with seating and a double hammock and a fully-equipped kitchen with blender, toaster, French press and all the basics. This accommodation is self-catered.

This cosy pair of cabins are located at the base of the tropical forests of Nicaragua, abundant with wildlife and nature.

The house is a 5-minute walk from the center of the lively and exciting Community of Balgue.

The bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the cabins. Balgue is the most popular travelers’ spot on the island and has its best restaurants. Balgue is the main town for access to hiking Volcan Maderas. This relaxed area is focused on eco-tourism and sustainable development, fresh and local eats, and living ‘diacachimba’!

Sandy beaches found on the isthmus between the two volcanoes are found a short bus ride, bike ride or rented vehicle ride away.

The volcano Maderas forms half of the island Ometepe, contrasting and rivaling with the other half, Volcano Conception, in its style and beauty.

Isla Ometepe, which sits in the middle of the largest lake in the Central American tropics, was named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in June 2010.

Plenty of room for pets and kids and big kids alike to freely roam and enjoy the diversity of the abundant plants and wildlife in the area. Rare birds can often be seen passing over here as well as frequent howler monkey crossings over the driveway.
